A Manual For Writers Of Term Papers, Theses, And Dissertations: How To Get Your Academic Writing Skills To A New Level.

If you want to learn how to write a well-written term paper, thesis, or dissertation it takes practice. You can’t master how to be a great writer if you don’t practice. This can be as simple as keeping a journal or at least writing a few hundred words a day. This will keep your skills sharp and keep you from falling behind on your writing skills.

How To Improve Your Writing Skills

  • Read everyday, I don’t mean that you have to read an entire novel everyday but read a short story or the newspaper, anything you find interesting. This will show you the different styles of writing and familiarize you will them and improve yours.
  • Like I said before you can improve your writing skills by writing everyday. You don’t have to sit down and write for two hours but about fifteen minutes of free writing a day will keep your skills sharp and show you where you need improvement.
  • Know the basics of grammar and style. You won’t be a well-written writer if you don’t know the basics of grammar and style. There are site out there that you can use to learn or refresh your knowledge on grammar and style. If you spend fifteen to thirty minutes on these kinds of sites a day, you will learn all you need to know about grammar and style.
  • Most writers want to get others opinions on their writing but end up not listening or brushing off their critiques. You shouldn’t do this, if you have someone else read and review your work, take their feedback seriously. They just want to help you and making the corrections that they give you will make you a better writer.
  • The last suggestion is one that most writers already know but it is a good one to do with all of your writings. Read your work out loud, reading it out loud will tell you how your paper will sound to the person reading and grading it. This will also help you find grammar errors in your writing. Reading it aloud is the best way to find mistakes that you missed reading it to yourself.
